Community Tax Assistance Program

Virtual Workout Room (VWR)

We are pleased to offer the majority of The Change Coalition's programs through accessible virtual platforms, helping to increase accessibility, community participation, and equitable access to services for individuals who may face physical, geographic, financial, or health-related barriers.

Programs available in a virtual format include the Touch Quilt Program, Community Tax Assistance Programs, and the newly developed Virtual Wellness and Fitness Program, which is provided at no cost to eligible participants. These programs are designed to support well-being, social inclusion, and access to resources that contribute to an improved quality of life.

In addition to direct program delivery, The Change Coalition provides educational resources, community awareness initiatives, and support services that address challenges associated with invisible and non-apparent disabilities. The organization also collaborates with community partners to support initiatives that address the needs of youth experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations.

By utilizing virtual service delivery, The Change Coalition is able to reach a broader audience, reduce barriers to participation, and ensure that individuals and families have access to meaningful programs, resources, and supports regardless of their location. Through these efforts, the organization continues to advance its commitment to inclusion, accessibility, community engagement, and public benefit.

Physical activity and wellness programs can play an important role in supporting the overall health, well-being, and quality of life of individuals living with disabilities, chronic health conditions, and other barriers to participation.

Regular physical activity may contribute to improved strength, mobility, mental well-being, stress management, and increased confidence, helping individuals participate more fully in their communities and daily activities.

Through The Change Coalition's health and wellness initiatives, participants are provided with access to educational resources and opportunities that encourage safe and inclusive physical activity. These programs are designed to promote healthy lifestyles, support social inclusion, and improve overall well-being in an accessible and supportive environment.

Working in collaboration with community partners, The Change Coalition strives to make wellness programs more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of participants. The organization recognizes that individuals may face a variety of physical, social, financial, or health-related barriers and seeks to provide resources that support their ability to pursue healthy and active lifestyles.

We invite you to visit our Virtual Wellness and Fitness Program to explore educational resources, fitness guidance, and wellness opportunities that can be accessed from home or within a community fitness setting. Visitors can also learn more about our Community Tax Assistance Program and other initiatives designed to increase access to resources, services, and supports that contribute to individual and community well-being.

Through these programs, The Change Coalition continues to promote health, accessibility, community participation, and public benefit while supporting individuals in achieving their personal wellness goals.

Community Tax Assistance Program

Community Tax Assistance Program

Filing an annual income tax return is an important step in accessing a variety of government benefits, tax credits, and financial assistance programs that may be available to eligible individuals and families. Many people are unaware that filing their taxes can help them receive valuable financial supports designed to improve economic well-being and reduce financial barriers.

Through The Change Coalition's Community Tax Assistance Program, individuals may receive support in completing and filing their income tax returns, helping them access benefits and credits for which they may qualify. Depending on eligibility and place of residence, these may include federal, provincial, and territorial benefit programs, refundable tax credits, and other forms of financial assistance.

The program also provides information about programs such as the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and other tax-related measures that may assist individuals living with disabilities, chronic health conditions, or other circumstances that affect their financial well-being. By increasing awareness of available benefits and supports, the program helps individuals make informed decisions and access resources that contribute to their quality of life.

The Change Coalition's Community Tax Assistance Program is intended to reduce barriers to accessing government benefits, improve financial literacy, and support greater financial inclusion within the community. Through this service, eligible individuals and families can gain access to resources that may strengthen their financial stability and overall well-being.

We encourage community members to learn more about the Community Tax Assistance Program and other Change Coalition initiatives designed to promote accessibility, community participation, and public benefit.

Comfort Quilts

The Comfort Quilt Program is a community-based initiative designed to support the well-being, emotional comfort, and quality of life of individuals living with disabilities, cognitive impairments, chronic health conditions, and other non-apparent barriers to daily living.

The program provides specially designed sensory and comfort quilts that may assist individuals experiencing conditions such as dementia-related illnesses, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, and other conditions where sensory stimulation and comfort-based tools may contribute to improved daily functioning and emotional regulation.

These quilts are intended to provide sensory engagement, comfort, and reassurance, helping to reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and social isolation while supporting greater calmness and emotional well-being in home, care, or community settings.

Through this program, The Change Coalition works in collaboration with families, caregivers, and community partners to help increase access to non-clinical supportive resources that contribute to improved quality of life and enhanced community inclusion for individuals facing barriers related to disability or health conditions.

The Comfort Quilt Program reflects the organization’s broader commitment to promoting inclusion, accessibility, community support, and public benefit by providing tangible resources that support individuals and strengthen community care networks. Learn More.

Bursary Program

Bursary Program

The Bursary Program provides assistive technology supports, including the provision of computing devices equipped with accessibility tools, to individuals living with disabilities, chronic health conditions, and other non-apparent barriers that may limit access to education, communication, services, and community participation.

This program is intended to reduce digital exclusion by ensuring that eligible individuals have access to essential technology resources that support independence, learning, and connection. The computers provided through the program may include assistive software and accessibility features designed to help individuals overcome barriers related to communication, organization, sensory processing, or other functional limitations.

By improving access to assistive technology, the program supports greater educational participation, social inclusion, and access to community services, particularly for individuals who may otherwise face barriers due to disability-related needs or financial constraints.

The Change Coalition administers this program with a focus on promoting equitable access, capacity building, and community inclusion, ensuring that individuals have the tools necessary to participate more fully in daily life, education, and community-based activities.

Through the Assistive Technology Bursary Program, The Change Coalition advances its commitment to public benefit, accessibility, and the reduction of barriers experienced by individuals living with visible and non-apparent disabilities.
