Every child deserves the chance to succeed—and it all begins with being prepared. The Lifecentre Food Bank, in partnership with the community and The Change Coalition, is collecting donations of school supplies to accompany backpacks generously donated by local supporters.

Items Needed
Back-to-school season can be a time of excitement—but also of stress and uncertainty for families struggling to make ends meet. With rising costs, even basic school essentials can feel out of reach. A child who starts school without the necessary tools is already at a disadvantage, academically and emotionally.
Lack of supplies doesn’t just affect grades—it can lead to lower self-esteem, isolation, anxiety, and other invisible disorders. A well-equipped backpack can make a world of difference. It helps children feel confident, included, and ready to learn—preventing emotional and mental health challenges before they start.
We are collecting all new school supplies, including:
- Backpacks (already generously provided, but always welcome!)
- Pencils, pens, and highlighters
- Notebooks and loose-leaf paper
- Binders and folders
- Pencil cases
- Erasers and sharpeners
- Crayons, pencil crayons, and markers
- Rulers and scissors
- Glue sticks and tape
- Calculators
- Lunch bags and water bottles
- Headphones (for digital learning needs)
