A kind word, a listening ear, a small act of support—make a big difference!

Cynthia Irving-CFO & President

Today, we see many individuals with invisible disorders who struggle to file their taxes on time, with some not filing for several years. We understand these challenging times, as individuals and families utilize food banks, thrift stores, and other social services to get by. By completing your taxes, many may qualify for the GST Credit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, and the Climate Action Incentive. These benefits are cheques mailed to your address or directly deposited into your bank account. Additionally, several may be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit.
Cynthia Irving CPA conducts these clinics, which are recommended by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as part of her efforts to help change Canada for the better through her change organization.
To qualify for the free tax clinic, you need to have a modest income and a straightforward tax situation. This may include:
- Adults over 65
- Housing-insecure individuals
- Indigenous peoples
- Newcomers
- People with a disability
- Students and youth.
The following table provides a guideline to determine what is considered a modest income based on family size.
Family size - Total family income
1 person - $35,000
2 people - $45,000
3 people - $47,500
4 people - $50,000
5 people - $52,500
More than 5 people - $52,500, plus $2,500 for each additional person.

This is a non-refundable credit that can help many with invisible disabilities. They can help support their families, buy groceries, and may avoid being displaced by reducing the amount of income tax they pay.
Those with severe and prolonged disabilities may apply. If you successfully pass the test, you can be approved and claim these taxes at tax time.
The purpose of this credit is to offset the extra cost related to your disability.. The process is not easy, but we can start the process for you. Your doctor can advise you if you are eligible. We have helped some begin this process this year. We warn you, CRA is quite discerning regarding the DTC.
