Virtual Tax Clinics – Year-Round Support

Our year-round Virtual Tax Clinics support individuals with modest incomes and simple tax situations in preparing and filing their returns in accordance with guidance from the Canada Revenue Agency.

We help clients access key credits and benefits, including the GST/HST Credit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, the Canada Carbon Rebate, and the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), where applicable.

Clinics are overseen by Cynthia Irving, CPA, and follow CRA community tax clinic standards.

Year round virtual tax clinics

Many individuals living with invisible disabilities or disorders experience barriers that make it difficult to file taxes on time, and some may go several years without filing. We recognize these challenges, particularly as many individuals and families rely on food banks, thrift stores, and community support services to meet basic needs.

Filing a return may allow access to key government benefits and credits, including the GST/HST Credit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, and the Canada Carbon Rebate, which are typically issued by cheque or direct deposit. Some individuals may also be eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

Our clinics are conducted by Cynthia Irving, CPA, and are aligned with community tax clinic guidance from the Canada Revenue Agency.

To qualify for free tax clinic services, individuals must have a modest income and a simple tax situation.

This may include:

  • Adults aged 65 and older
  • Individuals experiencing housing insecurity
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Students and youth

Modest income guideline (by family size):

  • 1 person — $35,000
  • 2 people — $45,000
  • 3 people — $47,500
  • 4 people — $50,000
  • 5 people — $52,500
  • More than 5 — $52,500 plus $2,500 per additional person

Disability Tax Credit (DTC)

This is a non-refundable credit that can help many with invisible disabilities.  They can help support their families, buy groceries, and may avoid being displaced by reducing the amount of income tax they pay.

Those with severe and prolonged disabilities may apply.  If you successfully pass the test, you can be approved and claim these taxes at tax time.

The purpose of this credit is to offset the extra cost related to your disability..  The process is not easy, but we can start the process for you.  Your doctor can advise you if you are eligible.  We have helped some begin this process this year. We warn you, CRA is quite discerning regarding the DTC.

Contact us.  We may be able to help.
